craftsmanship

We wanted something more than the mass produced tableware on the market. We wanted unique pieces with visible craftsmanship and subtle imperfections. That’s why we chose to base our production in Europe, where the heritage crafts of ceramics, glass blowing, and steelmaking have been practiced for centuries. After visiting dozens of factories across Europe, we selected three small factories in Portugal with unmatched attention to detail and quality.

dinnerware

Our dinnerware is made in Leiria, the central coastal region of Portugal known for its beaches and long history of ceramics production dating back to the 13th century. Our factory partner has been in the ceramics production business for decades. Professional craftspeople employed by the factory use a blend of traditional and modern methods and hand finish each piece. Our stoneware dishes are made from natural clay sourced in Portugal.

glassware

Our hand-blown glassware is also made in Portugal’s Leiria region where the art of glassblowing has been practiced since the mid-18th century. We work with a small factory where expert glassblowers produce each piece by hand. Our glasses have subtle imperfections, such as barely visible waves and tiny bubbles, which show their handmade quality. No two glasses are identical, which is exactly what we love most about them.

flatware

Our premium 18/10 stainless steel flatware is produced at a family-owned factory in the hills of northern Portugal’s Braga region. Steelmaking in this area dates back to the Middle Ages when the battles that established Portugal’s independence were fought. The family we work with has been in business for over sixty-five years and is known for their expert workmanship and design capabilities.
